Healing and Recovery

WHY RECOVER

Professionalism in sport has provided the foundation for elite athletes to focus purely on training and competition. Furthermore, high-performance sport and the importance of successful performances have led athletes and coaches to continually seek any advantage that may improve performance. It follows that the rate and quality of recovery are extremely important for the high-performance athlete and that optimal recovery may provide numerous benefits during repetitive high-level training and competition. Therefore, investigating different recovery interventions and their effects on fatigue, muscle injury, recovery and performance is important.

Adequate recovery has been shown to result in the restoration of physiological and psychological processes, so that the athlete can compete or train again at an appropriate level. Recovery from training and competition is complex and typically dependent on the nature of the exercise performed and any other outside stressors. Athletic performance is affected by numerous aspects and therefore, adequate recovery should also consider such factors

TRAINING/COMPETITION
Volume, intensity, duration, type of training/sport. degree of fatigue, recovery from previous training/competition.

NUTRITION
Carbohydrate, protein and other nutrient intake, fluid and electrolyte balance.

STRESS
Stress and anxiety from competition.

LIFESTYLE
Quality and amount of sleep, schedule, housing situation, leisure/social activities, relationship with team members, coach. friends and family, job or schooling situation.

HEALTH
Illness, infection, injury, muscle soreness and damage.

ENVIORNMENT
Temperature, humidity, altitude.

TOOLS WE USE TO RECOVER

Normatec Recovery Boots

NormaTec’s founder, a physician bioengineer (MD, PhD), recognized the powerful potential of external dynamic compression and its crucial role in healing and recovery. The concept of using external compression to aid the body with its normal circulatory processes has been around since the 1960s; however, the science of compression had no major technological advances during the first 40 years of its use. After trying every available compression pump on the market with only unimpressive clinical results, NormaTec’s founder realized that the key to advancing the technology of external compression is improving the massage pattern. Thus NormaTec developed and patented Sequential Pulse Technology, and the NormaTec Recovery System was born.

Marc Pro

What's Marc Pro?

The Marc Pro is intended for muscle conditioning by stimulating muscle in order to improve or facilitate muscle performance. The Marc Pro is not intended to be used for therapy or treatment of medical diseases or medical conditions.

The Marc Pro does more than accelerate the recovery process. When used on a consistent basis, the Marc Pro actually improves overall muscle performance in two ways:

First, decreasing the down time between workouts and being more fully recovered for your next workout allows you to accelerate muscle development through a disciplined training program.

Second, when the same Muscle Activated Recovery Cascade (Nitric Oxide, vascular dilatation, more oxygenated blood and nourishment) takes place on a regular basis, the result demonstrated in our research is the development of new blood vessels (capillaries) – a process known as angiogenesis. More capillary blood vessels in a muscle equals more oxygenated blood and related supplies in the muscle and more deoxygenated blood and waste out of the muscle. By increasing the overall throughput of nourishment and waste to and from the muscle through angiogenesis, the muscle has an increased capacity to do more work – it performs better.

Fascial Stretch Therapy

Fascial Stretch Therapy(TM) is a unique, complete and complementary system of table-based assisted stretching, focusing on the fascia and joint capsule as the key elements in achieving optimal flexibility, strength, performance and pain relief.

Fascia is a network of layered connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones and joints. A joint capsule is also a connective tissue structure that surrounds joints and is involved in optimizing the mechanical function of the joint as well as gives it nutrients. When the fascia and joint capsules are restricted it can cause:

  • Decreased joint space which can lead to degenerative joint diseases and osteoarthritis
  • Increased muscle tone which can lead to trigger points, strains, tendonitis and tears
  • Increased nervous tissue tone which can lead to headaches, trigger points and muscle tightness
  • Increased scar tissue formation
  • Decreased blood flow and energy levels, and much more

Stretching Benefits:

  • Improved posture
  • Anti-aging
  • Reduced risk of injuries
  • Releases endorphins which are natural pain suppressants
  • Improved strength
  • Decreased stress
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Decreased muscle soreness

Medical Grade Hot and Cold Tubs:

Our cold water aquatic therapy pool system keeps water temperatures at a therapeutic 50° F to help control inflammation and enhance muscle recovery. Cold-water therapy is used as a stimulus to alleviate muscle joint strain and stress through numbing the nerves around the muscles and helping promote the release of endorphins.

Our hot water aquatic therapy pool system keeps temperatures between 94° – 104° F. Thermal water therapy is known to help relax tight muscles and stimulate the release of endorphins. Both types of pools and temperatures are known to help relieve pain, soreness and speed up recovery time.

Vibe Plate:

The medical benefits and advantages of vibration therapy as testified by medical professionals that use the VibePlate®, are tremendous. Vibration therapy and exercise on the VibePlate® is becoming an everyday part of their rehab and therapy programs. Whole Body Vibration (WBV) is being accepted world wide by major medical, rehabilitation and therapeutic centers throughout the world, as well as our United States Military.

The VibePlate® is one of the few vibration plates that give off vertical vibrations, which is preferred by medical professionals and fitness trainers alike. VibePlate® allows people with conditions such as Peripheral Neuropathy, osteoporosis, scoliosis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Spinal Stenosis, stroke victims, Parkinson's Disease, back pain, obesity and more, to benefit from vibration therapy, vibration exercise and vibration training on the plate within their personal limitations.

VibePlate® also allows the patient to go through physical therapy, rehab exercise and massage rehab with less pain...drug free. WBV can also energize, increase range of motion, rebuild healthy muscle tissue, increase circulation, reduce tension and stress in a very short time.
